Gil Scott-Heron: 1949 – 2011

Gil Scott-Heron has died in New York. The poet, musician and author was one of the most talented songwriters of the seventies and last year released the phenomenal album I’m New Here.

From his groundbreaking track ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’ to the protest songs of ‘Johannesburg’ and ‘B-Movie’, right through to his latest work, Gil Scott-Heron was a widely respected musician. He will be missed greatly.

One of my many favourite songs by Gil Scott-Heron, ‘B-Movie’
