Album Review – Pala by Friendly Fires

Headlining Brighton’s Great Escape Festival this weekend, Friendly Fires went down a storm. The entire audience were on their feet shaking, grinding and clapping along to tracks both new and old from the St. Albans band. They’ve returned with a second album that will see them continue to excite festival audiences for the rest of the summer.
As Pala begins, frontman Ed Macfarlane laments a life that started too late to have experienced rave culture. However the mood soon changes as the chorus kicks in and it’s declared that he’ll instead “Live those days tonight.”
While they won’t be bringing rave culture back with Pala, Friendly Fires will bring their very own brand of it to every single stage they play this year, and you’ll dance along.
