Bosch Powerbox

I don’t know what to say about this design. I know the other Harry on this blog has an Urban Assault, but this just seems even more industrial!

german company bosch has released an upgraded version of the power box™, a job site stereo with a CD and MP3 player, AM/FM radio and a remote control. the aluminium and rubber roll cage protects the radio, allowing it to withstand up to a ten foot drop. german consultancy TEAMS design collaborated with bosch to develop the new design.

the latest features include an advanced antenna and digital tuner for improved radio reception, a new subwoofer and four-way speakers that emit high-quality sound in 360 degrees. there is a small caribineer remote control that attaches to a key chain and is stored on the power box handle.

in addition to playing CDs, MP3s and iPods (from a protective interior charging station), the power box also recharges bosch power tool batteries, cell phones and other 12v electrical equipment. the backlit UI was redesigned to be more user-friendly, and rubberized chambers that seal off the buttons and speakers protect the unit from dust and weather conditions.

Some of that stats are impressive (can withstand a ten foot drop?!), but it just seems a bit too much for my taste. What do you think?
