I was watching the final episode of the amazing BBC series ‘The Genius Of Design’ last night (see my posts about it here), and was reminded about something I came across last year. It was an animation, which was a visualization of the songs from Unknown Pleasures by Joy division, using the design from the record sleeve itself. It sounds a bit confusing, but follow this link and you’ll understand immediately.

The original artwork for the record was done by the graphic designer Peter Saville, who explains how some of his designs came about during the final episode of the series.
